Labor ideas for a better Australia

We are living through extraordinary times.

Across the world centre-left politics, unionism and civil society are all under challenge. Ideological extremists are on the march and threaten the achievements of social democrats everywhere. Working together we can stop them in their tracks.

The John Curtin Research Centre is a new social democratic think-tank tasked with developing ideas that advance the cause of Labor in Australia and internationally. We counter the false promises of extremism whether of the far-right or hard-left and in doing so seek to advance a positive, practical and relevant twenty-first century Labor agenda that responds to the concerns, needs and aspirations of working Australians.

Ultimately it is the triumph of ideas that ensures victory in political battles. And there has never been a more important time for social democrats to win that battle. In the words of Labor’s great wartime Prime Minister John Curtin, it is only through the ideas and actions of working people ‘that a better and more decent way of life can be given to all.’
The John Curtin Research Centre has a busy year ahead full of exciting research and publications, and stellar local and international guest speakers. But to reach as many Australians as possible we need your help!
